Write for us
We welcome original pitches about recreational outdoor time, including walking, paddling, camping, nature observation and the shape of an unhurried day outside. Send proposals through the Contact page rather than submitting a finished article.
What makes a strong pitch
A good proposal has one clear subject, a reader it is meant to help, and a distinct reason the idea belongs in Active Leisure Journal. Tell us the central point, the approach you would take and what makes the subject useful beyond a passing trend. Practical, evergreen ideas should not depend on statistics, undisclosed research or first-hand product testing.
Keep the scope clear
We are interested in considered explanations, comparisons and planning ideas that readers can apply at their own pace. Avoid claims of expertise you cannot support, advice that depends on a local rule, and instructions for hazardous or safety-critical tasks. A pitch should be original and should identify any relevant commercial connection.
How to propose an idea
Use the Contact page and choose the editorial question option. Include a working title, a short summary, the intended reader and a few lines about your approach. Please do not send a complete draft unless it has been requested.
Outside time need not be a grand expedition
A familiar path, a quiet paddle or an evening under canvas can be enough. We focus on choices that help make outdoor leisure feel inviting and your own.
